Outreach Community Employment Supervisor – Catering Operations

Salary: Point 1 of the CE Supervisor Salary Scale

About the Role

NCE Outreach is seeking an experienced Community Employment Supervisor with a strong background in catering and kitchen management. This role involves overseeing the delivery of a CE project with a focus on food services. The successful candidate will lead a team in a busy kitchen environment, support participant development, and ensure high standards of training, safety, and service delivery.

Key Requirement

Catering and kitchen management experience is essential.
The successful candidate must be confident managing kitchen operations and mentoring participants in food preparation, hygiene, and service roles.

Applicant Requirements

Candidates must also demonstrate strong competency in the following areas:

  • Administration
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills
  • Training & Development
  • People Management
  • ICT proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience
  • A major third-level qualification (NFQ Level 6 or higher) is desirable

Core Duties

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and catering services within the CE project
  • Oversee administration, technical tasks, and participant development
  • Provide leadership and support to individuals working in kitchen roles, particularly those in rehabilitation or long-term unemployment
  • Monitor staff and participant progress and report to the Sponsoring Committee
  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Department of Social Protection requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in catering, food service, or kitchen supervision
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and HSE Environmental Health regulations
  • Ability to manage catering services aligned with NCE’s sustainability and community goals
  • Strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Experience supporting and developing team members with diverse needs
  • Initiative and self-motivation, with a proactive approach to problem-solving

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience supporting individuals in early recovery
  • QQI Level 6 Train the Trainer qualification
  • Experience liaising with HSE Environmental Health Services
